London International Mime Festival 10th January – 25th January 2009 Southbank Centre, Barbican, ICA, Clore Studio, Shunt Vaults, various venues Telephone: 08716 632500
The London International Mime Festival this January will offer an opportunity to view a professional selection of artists performing at various central London venues. Barbican, Southbank Centre, Shunt Vaults and other venues will host performance and various workshops and after show discussions will take place.
The first version of the London International Mime Festival was held as early as 1977 and showcased the work of British visual theatre artists. Festival’s success encouraged the funding from The Cockpit Theatre with the support of the Arts Council of Great Britain.
To start with something different in the New Year, the London International Mime Festival will offer 15 days of performances and will feature such performers as Tomas Kubinek, a multi-talented entertainer and self-styled ‘doctor of dramatic diversions and curer of melancholia’. Wordless version of the Oedipus myth will be brought by the Ex Machina Athens from Greece, Sharmanka from Russia/UK will show the Gothic Circus and other performances will be available to those who love mime performance.
The London International Mime Festival at various central London venues is recommended to all those who are interested in theatre, dance, art and performance as each event will allow audiences to interpret the performance through their own personal experiences.
